Sarva Seva Sangh Pune is one of the pioneering centres of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), India Mumbai Province, svdindia.org engaged in the rehabilitation and empowerment of children at high risk. We reach out to street and working children, children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and children of the commercially and sexually exploited women. We have always adopted innovative ways of reaching out to these children. SSS is basically involved in the educational rehabilitation of children at high risk.
Sarva Seva Sangh had its humble beginning in 1979 and it offered courses in tailoring and embroidery, type writing and short hand and tuition for the nearby poor children. However, along with the development and extension of Pune city into its neighboring villages like Vadgaonsherri, the needs and job prospects of the people too underwent a serious change. Reading the signs of the times and responding to the needs of the poor of the area, after serious reflection and discernment in the mid 1990s SSS chose to reach out to the children at high risk situations.
